This Data Privacy & Data Protection (Basic) Online Course is designed for people who need to be technically adept at current data protection issues. This online training will enable organizations to be confident that legal compliance with RA 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) is continually addressed. How Does This Online Course Work?
This online course has both face-to-face meetings (via Google Meet) and self-paced learning components. We will utilize a Learning Management System (LMS; a web-based portal) to complement the online lectures and meetings for the entire duration of the online course.
- The online course will kick off with a live lecture via Google Meet from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. To be discussed in this session are the basics of Data Privacy, Data Protection, the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and Breach Notification among many other things. All attendees of this online session will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
- Right after the live lecture via Google Meet, course participants will have access to the LMS website where different topics are discussed in detail. Participants can interact with the course facilitator, as well as with their fellow learners through different activities and discussion forums inside the LMS. Copies of lecture files (slide decks, sample forms, etc.) will be available for download from the LMS. Online Quizzes & Assessments will also be given via the LMS. Participation in the LMS website is purely OPTIONAL.
- A Weekly Check-in session will be hosted by the course facilitator via Google Meet every Monday afternoon (or based on an agreed day and time among course participants). It is during this online meeting that course participants may ask questions or consult about real-life challenges related to data privacy and data protection within their respective organizations. Attendance to the Weekly Check-in session is NOT REQUIRED.
Issuance of Certificate of Attendance
- All course participants of the Data Privacy & Data Protection (Basic) Online Course shall receive a digital Certificate of Attendance within twenty-four (24) hours after the online session.
Issuance of Certificate of Accomplishment
- All course participants of the Data Privacy & Data Protection (Basic) Online Course who will pass all Online Quizzes and Assessments at the LMS will receive an additional Certificate of Accomplishment within forty-eight (48) hours upon completion.
Both the Certificate of Attendance and Certificate of Accomplishment credentials can be verified online on our website.
Speaker Profile
Robert “Bob” Reyes [https://www.linkedin.com/in/bobreyes/] is the General Manager and Chief Technology Officer of TurfSite Web Services. Bob is an International Tech Speaker, representing the global non-profit Mozilla (makers of the Firefox web browser), whose mission is to ensure that the Internet will remain a global public resource, open and accessible to all. The organization has always been at the forefront of promoting privacy and data protection both online and offline. He is part of the National Privacy Commission’s Preparatory Committee for the Data Privacy Council.
Bob is also a practicing Data Protection Officer (DPO) & Data Protection Consultant. In his free time, he writes for the Manila Bulletin as a Technology Columnist. Bob has earned the distinction to become a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and has been recognized as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert for AY2019-2020 and AY2020-2021.
Learning Fee
To be part of this online course, a minimal Learning Fee of PHP3,499.00 will be charged per participant.
